Someday we will sculpt our brains, much as we now sculpt our muscles to look and feel the way we choose. Modern neuroscience shows how we can develop different parts of our brains to experience different states and abilities. You can do this—you can target your mental development to become the person you want to be!

Do you want to...

Perform better at work >>
Peak performance takes on a whole new meaning in the light of 21st century technological advances. By developing your prefrontal cortex (your "Executive Brain"), you can learn to effectively, and even joyfully, navigate through the challenges and stresses of today's workplace. It's about more than productivity: it's creating an inner state in which you are energized, focused, and working at your best!
Expand your ability to focus in the midst of overload >>
The Information Age has gotten out of control. The challenge now is handling all the information. People must use their minds in new ways to juggle and integrate the often overwhelming amount of information and interaction.

Fortunately, brain science provides us what we need to meet this challenge. We can expand our ability to pay attention to what we choose. Sustained focus is the mental ability. Assertiveness is the corollary—so we can resist external demands that pull us this way and that, scattering our attention so we can barely think straight.

If you don't choose your focus, it will be chosen for you. It takes practice, just like growing any muscle. Develop your brain strength, and you will be free to lead the life you choose.
Motivate your team >>
When we act in ways that are personally meaningful, our brain produces beneficial chemicals that not only motivate us, but also feel good and increase our ability to learn. Motivation and meaning are mediated by the same regions of the brain. They are connected.

When we look to motivate ourselves and others, however, often we do not even consider deeper questions of meaning. The work must get done. The diet must be adhered to. The goal must be met. But . . . why? Because of external demands or requirements? Research has linked external motivation to chronic stress, burnout, boredom, and an unending search for external gratification that can only intensify.

So how can I motivate my team? You can't. What you can do is show them how to motivate themselves. The network of brain structures that underlie motivation and meaning are relatively known. Discover strategies that work, and feel good too!
Be relaxed, productive and efficient, all at the same time >>
When you think about it, much of the fuss is about having a shortage of time. "I have to get everything done, and I've got only 4 hours." "How am I ever going to do this? I must work faster. I must be more efficient." "There's simply not enough time in the day."

News Flash: Time is subjective. The shortage is actually about attention and the way we hold our experience of time. Did you know that multitasking is inefficient? That we learn and produce more when we are relaxed and focused? That we can develop our brain to be better able to concentrate? It's not about working faster, working harder, or working longer! It's about taking charge of your time and attention, and building your mental capacities so that work flows in a relaxed and natural productivity.
Take charge of your emotions >>
Ever wonder why the heart so often rules the head? (Why can't I control my anger? Why do I feel sad when nothing is wrong? Why can't I stop worrying about this?)

Strangely enough, it's the way our brains are designed: the part of the brain that mediates emotion is stronger than the part that thinks. You don't need to understand all the science to take charge of your emotions: what's needed is targeted exercises that change habitual emotional patterns while strengthening your ability to be in control of yourself.

It takes time, but . . . aaaahhhhh, the freedom! Think of all you could be and do without those old, stubborn, limiting emotions. Take charge—develop your brain strength!
Create a specific result >>
It's 2008. There's ample information out there about how to create the results we want. Much of it rings true. Some of it works... for a time. If you're like most people, you "know how" to create the results you want. You've tried many strategies, tools, and groups. So why do some results simply elude us? Are we doing it wrong? Are we not motivated enough?

We think it's because most strategies overlook the physiological component of creating results. That's right. Things tend to remain as they are for a simple reason: those habits are held in the wiring of our brain and body.

New results require new ways of thinking, feeling and acting. It's not quite as simple as just deciding to change: cognitive, emotional, and behavioral habits are held in midbrain regions that are not easily accessible to conscious intention. Knowing what to do and "making ourselves do it" are not enough, because the "Executive Brain", while wise, is not actually all that strong. Focusing our intention and a positive attitude are also not enough, because how do we maintain that over a period of time?

If you want to achieve a result that is new for you, you must rewire your brain. This takes targeted mental exercise and persistence over a period of time. (Remember, the old wiring has been there for quite a while!) Our processes are designed to rewire the brain, enabling change on a deep, enduring level; empowering you to sustain the consistent, targeted practices that will produce the results you desire.
Create brain-friendly meetings and learning programs >>
Wouldn't it be great if your attendees were open, engaged, and invigorated during your entire presentation or conference? If they retained and applied a lot of what was taught?

This is not always the case. The nature of learning programs is the transfer and reception of a large amount of information. The nature of people is that our attention and retention capacity is not that large. And we are already stuffed with information—we go to workshops wanting more, like trying to eat a third helping of dinner when we are already full to the brim.

At BrainStrength Systems, we seek to share with our colleagues what we know about how the human brain assimilates and processes information. People do truly want your information; they just need it presented in a way that enables them to digest it. We can show you how.

What it takes to do these things is knowledge and practice.
Just like going to the gym.
